Sonar 2 searchback problems

I'm having some problems with the controller searchback feature of sonar.

Here's my setup:

midiman oxygen keyboard controller
505 groovebox as tone generator
sonar 2

According to the manual (and what I would expect):

"SONAR has automatic searchback for all continuous controller data to ensure that the correct controller values are in effect regardless of where you start playback."

I can't seem to make this work for my groovebox. I'm recording controller data for filter cutoff, delay settings, etc. at the beginning of a track that outputs to the groovebox. If I play forward through this recorded data, the controller data is transmitted properly to the groovebox. If I start the track at a point in time past the controller data, the controller data is never transmitted. Any thoughts?

I don't know if this will work for you (it does for me):

Convert your controllers to envelopes using the "Edit -> Convert MIDI to Shapes". It doesn't only help sending MIDI data, but it's much more easier to edit...
