I am submitting this little song fragment because of how I recorded it.

Some one in another forum posted this jazz section with chords etc and asked for bassists (and guitarists) to add parts to it and send back to him.

I downloaded the song, converted it from mpeg to stereo wave file, converted another copy of it to a mono wave file, exported the mono wave file to my MR-8, recorded the bass parts, imported the wave files (tracks) back to my PC, deleted the mono wave file that I used to overdub, mixed my tracks with the stereo wave file using Club Tracks, converted my mix to an MP3 and viola! A collaborative song finished! Anyhow this is what I have always wanted to do and the MR-8 has allowed me to do it with ease! Here is the link to the song. It is called "Add a Track Soul Jam"

PS-BDBDBUCK, I havent forgotten about our project, I am gonna make a push to wrap it up this week:)

Cool, I almost e-mailed you before I logged on....glad I didn't now. Dude, that bass work is SCHWEET! Just re-confirms my opinion that you are one of the best bassists I've heard in a long time. Can't wait to hear our project.

Thank you everyone for your feedback:)

As far as my sound you won't belive this but i run both of my basses (A peavey cirrus 4 string and yamaha BB5GS 5 string) direct into the MR-8, no EQ compression anything, just dry signal from my active pickups. I have a sans amp that I should probably use but I just keep getting a cleaner signal if I leave it alone.

Hey Clif,

You're a bass monster! I liked your free-styling.:D

Clif: Does your Yamaha BBG5S have the Nathan East EQ? Just wondering if it makes that big of a difference, or if you have a preference one way or the other (I'm looking for a nice used BBG5S after hearing your AWESOME tracks!).

You know I am not sure what the Nathan East EQ settings are. What I do know is that I got it used for 350.00 and it has a treble boost, bass boost, pickup blend knob and master volume knob. I use mine at both pickups belended equally with everything else turned up to the max. In fact I ue all of my basses that way, just everything turned up all the way!

Thanks for listening and let me know if you get a BB5GS, I play it more than my Alembic!

Isn't Nathan East a bass player for Eric Clapton's band during the 25th Anniversary tour?

I'm not sure what Bizzwriter means by "Nathan East EQ" though.

I believe so. As far as the EQ, the expensive delexue Nathan East Signature model Yamaha has special EQ features not found on other Yamaha Basses. All of the other less expensive ones I.e mine, have a Nathan East style body but not the other fancy features that make his bass as awsome as it is.

There's a Nathan East signature model Yamaha bass that has special active electronics per East's specifications. A lot of the newer model Yamaha basses have the same "Nathan East" electronics -- not sure what year they switched over. I wasn't very clear in my original question -- I meant to ask Clif if his bass had this newer setup, and if he had a preference one way or the other.

You know you've made it when they make a signature model after you.

Thanks for the lesson gents.
