Rock Steady
Ok, I finaly got a little something together. I got a new mixer and it helps big time, I guess I`m hung up on knobs n stuff over a mouse. The cymbals are a bit harsh, I have a little mud around 300 hz , and its just a quick thought that came to me. I need Buzz Feiton ( I wish :) ) to drop by and do some guitar work and I need some horns yet.
I need the "Apocolyptic surgeons" to check out this new specimen. Cut it up, give me hell... :)

Okay, the first 2:46 was good...the remaining 18 minutes was kinda' lifeless...just quiet white noise, really. :D

Man, that is, without a doubt, the fattest sounding snare I've ever heard in my life. I can't do anything with a synth/keyboard OR a Mixer, so I'm in awe when it comes to this stuff. The pno on the right, I liked. What is that on the left doing the choppy rhythm parts?

I thought your levels sounded fine...it's kinda' hypnotic. I suck at mix advice, so I'll just say I liked it.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!

Thanks Chris,
It was a quick cut of an idea I had after I unpacked the new mixer I had just gotten. I wanted to get it down before it slipped away.... I been trying to get accustomed to using sound forge on the individual tracks before I`m ready to go stereo. On this one I tried to keep everything hot so there wouldnt be much change when I made the mp3. It did ok, but that sound on the left was a virtual nylon string rythym on top of an analog synth, it got buried a little. I`m still learning to use Sonar and SF, as well as trying to pick up chops on keyboards, at the least I can get a basic of my ideas down now. Maybe I`ll have something complete like you guys do, before long. For now its mostly just scratch ideas. Being a bassist and not having the convenience of other musicians around when i need them to cut parts is a drag. But now I got enough tools here to get it halfassed done. :) I just hope to get better at it.. Thanks for listening man.

Hey Toki,
Nice man, very nice. The first thing that stuck out to me was that snare. Its not bad mind you..... has a very 80's feel in all its hugeness:D ....you might wanna strip the lows off of it though to leave a little room (just a humble thought) ....otherwise, a great song in the making.... ...yeah, some clean lead guit. playing would be nice in this. .......Im sure you have plans though:)

Nice stuff man!

nice music...for sure.

the whole mix seems to have a "room" reverb on it, and it pushes it to the back. I think this with a 'more in your face' sound....ala dry...might punch things even more. Great snare... I like that too.
Can you get things more stereo-ized too.. ? like a nice stereo organ which is kinda in the background.

nice bass sound too. just too much room reverb, imo.

nice bass sound.. I agree with all the previous comments..

that snare has more meat than the bass drum! the whole mix lacks some sparkle, but it's listenable because at least it's not harsh.. tune is good, I also agree about the guitar additions being a cool idea..

Thanks guys. I really do read, respect, and try what yall suggest. I`m learning a little more each time. Maybe something good will come out of this yet..

Yep, there`s always an open space waiting for guitar in my thinking as well..

thanks,
Ken

That was pretty cool. I liked the groove.

That is a fat snare and I like 'em FAT. My snare sound that is. It could use a little high end maybe or, like what was suggested, cutting some low out of it.

You mixed this on an analog mixer? I'm proud of ya. :D

"We don need no steenkeeng mouse."

Some smooth sounds. That whap on the snare sounds more like a TOM for cryin' out loud! (But it works)

I was tryin' a few chords on the SG against that pattern besides that one that you leaned on mostly and there's lots of others that could fit and still sound smooth.

Some Lt. Bob sax on this and you're set!
