What will it be used for?

The studio projects B3 would be a good choice in that price range if you need it for general use, there are others but that's one I have experience with.

If it's for a specific purpose you really need to try a few out and see which one suits best.

i will be use it for vocal
and i am thinking of buying the Shure SM57 for recording guitar

Hold onto your money for the time being and spend the rest of the week reading threads here.

I second that. Check out the HomeRecording Mic FAQ - www.hr-faq.org - and have a search of this forum to research some of the models that interest you.

I can only go on my own experience - as with all of us. I think the SE Electronics SE2200 / JoeMeek JM47 is a good and versatile mic, the Studio Projects B3 is another I like, I've not come across a bad mic made by Audio Technica yet, and there are numerous others which gets lots of good reviews here, such as the CAD M179 and some of the ADK mics.

So have a read around, try to work out which forum members you 'trust' the judgement of, and ignore as much hype as possible. A year or so ago, the hype was largely about the SP C1, now it's more towards the ADK Hamburg/Vienna. Shows what a lot of influence Dot has!!! :D Time will tell which are the 'keepers' ... but there are people here with great ears and you should listen to their advice.

Hope that helps.

On the other hand - why do I feel as though 'assmaster' signing up to ask about Behringer mics is a hoax? :p
