Ok...here goes....I just made an attempt to build a home studio. I had some old toys from earlier live band gigs/bands I used to play in, and/or run sound for (the stuff I didnt ebay out) so I decided to try to put a home studio together.
Here is where I am at (besides the fact that to this point I have never recorded one thing yet with this system...lol),,, anyway, I went on a rampage to buy an ADAT or 2 just to get started. Well, I ended up with 7 of them (thanks to a drunkin night on ebay) I bought a new Behringer MX32 Mixer (plus I have a 16 ch Mackie and a 24 Ch Yamaha as well) I have a ton of effects (Yamaha SPX-90s, 5 or 6 compressors, a couple EQ's, mics etc etc etc) and I bought an Alesis Studio Reference Monitor Amp to power my close reference monitors I have. Then I just bought an MAudio Delta 44 Breakout Box along with Cubase SE software for the computer I put in this room of cool flashing lights. ;)

Now (ok I lied a little..I DID do a "test 1 2 3" into the Adats to make sure everything worked,,,which they did) but my question is this,,,,,,,

What do you recommend to use to record the music from the ADATS into my PC? (Or will Cubase, which I never tried yet, work for this???)

I snake my band into the Behringer 32 mixer....then Inserts out to 16 channels of the ADATS (And now I see since using inserts I get channel bleed due to only using the channels preamps, thats why I am out to buy a 32 channel Mackie this week with channel direct outs on each channel, if I can find one at decent price) N-E Way,,,,I then come out of the ADATS into the 16 Channel Mackie for mixdown,,,,then out of that 16 ch Mackie into the Delta 44 breakout box and into the computer.

Ok people...am I even close??? I get signal to the computer Delta software, but havent gone any further then that. And YES I will just buy a hard disk recorder with CD Burner and be done with it AFTER I decide I like this whole recording concept. In the meantime I can use the mixing consoles for when my band plays out if need be.

So, someone hook me up with advice,,,beyond getting rid of the Behringer brand mixer. ;)

Any help would be appreciated because I am a NewB at this and want to be able to record CD's with my computer. Also I figure if I get the Mackie Mixer with channel direct outs, I can get rid of the 16 ch Mackie as well.

Thanks

Hi,

Let me start out by congratulating you on all the hardware you have! You could open a music shop with all that!!

Sounds to me like you have it all sorted, If you run your ADAT into a mixing desk (Take your pick out of them you have..try to stay away from the Behringer ;)) into the soundcard and into the computer, this "should" work. Cubase will work fine, might take a little while to set up if it wasnt pre-installed on your computer when you purchased it, but nevertheless, keep at it and you will soon have a decent set up by the sound of things!

Good luck!

Peace

P.S. Any chance your selling one of those compressors? :p
