Yea, I own exactly 0 tube mics, and heard the 4060 is a great value. Heard it is a different animal from the 4050 that I own. Just wanna hear HOW different it is.

since a couple of you own the 4050, do you have any idea how it compares to the 4040? :)

WTF is up with the password thing to listen to samples?

the site knows your soul, and can see into the depths of your heart. Just like the neverending story, if you arent pure of heart and intent, you wont get in.

I have no problems with access today.

i downloaded all the clips. :D and you can't have them. :D

seriously. what reason would they have to password protect those files?

If you seriously have them, PM me or something and I'll get them posted.

I e-mailed their web master and they got back to me saying they have this fixed now.

The 4060 sounds like a great mic. That may be next on my list.

Re Discobox's request earlier in this discussion.

I would also be very interested in a comparison between AT4040 and AT4050. I can't
afford the 4050 but would like to know how much less of a mic [if any] the 4040 is and
what the main differences are. The AT sound clips of male voice hav'nt helped me and IMHO sound awfull. The 'singer'? sounds like a strangled cat whichever mic is being used and I doubt if it's the mic's fault.

I'm able to download the samples, so maybe the problem is fixed now...

Signal path is as follows: Microphone output to Great River MP-2NV preamp to Pro Tools HD. iZ RADAR 24 used for A-to-D conversion.

The mics sound really good on acoustic guitar, haven't listened to them yet on vocals.

They all sound great, but I can notice a big difference with the 4060.

my 4050 recently arrived .. and i havent been able to play with it very much yet but on these samples it sounds beautiful
