Some older, harder stuff

I had to do some digging because the link wouldn't work. Here is a good one.

Now, I really like this song. Really well. The chorus is very catchy. I don't see anything wrong with the mix. I rarely ever do with your stuff. It's just a great song all around! I also took the time to listen to curse or a blessing, and that is a really cool little song. (And I don't mean little in a bad way, just as an expression) I notice you like gapping up your time signiture a lot. It sounds cool. I know there is a proper name for the time signiture you use, but it escapes me right now. You also have a real knack for mixing things really dry, and still having them turn out sounding fantastic. I also want to tell you, I took a look at the song penelope o'tool, and I flat out love that song. You did a really great job on that song production wise, and lyric wise. Your voice was great, and something that jumped out at me is the pacing on the phrase "Working Tuesday and Saturday knight". It seems to be ignoring the backing drum rythem to squees somewhere in between. I do notice on most of your stuff (I don't know if it is the speakers I am listening on, or my overuse of bass in my songs) that the bass always seems to be eq'd kind of thin. Anyway, that's my input. Nice songs as always.

Kickass! Damn those guitars sound thick and bad (in a good way). I agree that the bass guitar could get boosted up in the mix. I'm listening on a bass-heavy set of headphones, and I'm still not hearing much. Crank it up..

Love the "Sometimes I wonder.." section. Shows some good songwriting there to let the instruments drop a bit.

The vocals are excellent. Whomever is singing is really good. Chorus is catchy and nicely separated from the rest of the song.

The kick is nice, but I wish the snare was bigger, louder, and thicker.

Overall a great tune, perfect length, and with lots of interesting sonic tidbits to latch onto. Well done!

This is a great song, I really like the vocal style. Only thing though, I found the mix quite muddy. I think it has to do with the drums being buried, I would have liked to hear them more in-your-face.

Wow, more LPC/Shotbox. Happy chappy am I.
1st off - heavy, dense track - reminded me of Helmet & Tool combined.
The "buried" drums suit the song at this stage - it'd be an entirely different feel if they came forward.
At present it's dark & evil which, from 1 listen, matches the lyric.
I like the gap for the unaccompanied vocal "kicks".
Some great things happening amongst that texture - the gtr lines the bass with a lot of sub and still good definition.
Dense yes but there's still a terrific stereo image.
Sitting amongst this is THAT voice! It's well placed & well supported.
TERRIFIC!
Thanks for the link Adam!

Thanks, guys. All I did was sing on this song - I didn't mix or play any instruments. This is from 2003. I'll post some more stuff as I come across it. I thought some of you might be interested to hear me singing in a format besides mellow pop.

Fantastic SC!
Great singing, really kick-ass tune and a great hookline. Those guitars sound like they were recorded in Hell! Nits...well it sounds very compressed somehow. But great nonetheless. ;)

You can sing your ass off, C.

Mix needs lots of TLC. Not your fault or your problem, but I'll bet you could solve it.

:D
