I was very hopeful when modelers and simulators hit the scene that I would
find something that could make an electric guitar sound like an acoustic.Any
one that has had to walk up to an acoustic on a stand and then quickly go
to thier electric to pull off some Styx or Badco live will most likely dig this:
The Graphtech Ghost acousti-phonic system.
Personally,I dont care for or need the entire system.I mainly didnt like the
idea of an on board preamp.I dont need battery problems at a gig.Prob was
solved simply enough by calling Graphtech. They made me a wire harness to
go from the Ghosts saddles to the stereo output jack that comes with the
system, allowing me to use the outboard pre of my choosing.
Anywho,I'm fucking rambling Cause I've had a few so I will explain how it
works.
Strat gets Ghost equipped saddles that are wired into the afore-mentioned
harness. From there to the stereo output jack of the guitar. From there to
the input of an A/B/Y box that has been modded with a stereo input jack.A
goes to my peddle board for my mag p/u's and B goes thru a pre to F.O.H.
for the Ghost saddles.Y combines the two signals.
A TRS is required between guitar and A/B/Y box,and it needs to be wired for
this purpose.
Before any of you start thinking that I know one fricking iota about how to
install this myself, let me say that I expressed my needs to a very good tech
(after I watched him play thru a simular setup)and he made it happen.
I will try to get samples up soon.
BTW, the whole deal was less than $400.Not bad for a killer clean acoustic
channel.
