Some Nice Slide Guitar by Jeff

Very nice man. It's always nice to hear Christian music that actually gets down. Nice mix...very bluesy playing and vocals. I don't really have anything to say about the mix....it's good enough that anything you change is gonna be just personal preference. The only thing that I'd change for sure is that ending. It sounds like the slide guy wasn't totally sure it was ending. Nice work all in all...... :D

Nice playing, I really like the sound you got got the slide work. You have chosen a real slow blues format and the lyric although worthy are a bit too uplifting for the blues format selected. I was expecting a since my baby left me took all my cash, got kicked out my house etc. Instead ther was lots about got the good Lord on my mind and setting me free. I got no problem with the sentement or the blues format but IMHO they're chalk and cheese in the same song, I reckon a more up beat blues would better fit the lyrical content.

...your straight ahead 4 bar blues with a slide guitar that sounds good to the end.

My only suggestion, - in 4-bar blues the guitar (slide) usually reinforces the vocal emotion, so when 'your baby is leaving at the station' the guitar is crying, and when ' you are kicking her ass out the door' the guitar is aggressive and screaming.....!

Here, I didn't feel that the guitar was paying close attention to the vocals.....

Thanks For the listen and input, Lt. Bob! Yeah Jeff kinda dropped the ball at the end but I think he did an excellent job otherwise. He's a pretty daggon good slide player.

Hey Matt, thanks for the listen and the ideas. Jeff wrote this tune for my late Brother who was one of the best bassists alive, IMHO. Rick was a member of the band from it's inception in Sept 2000, till he passed away on Jan 16, 2001 of a massive heart attack. I guess that's why he wrote it as a Slow Shuffle.

MCMD, thanks Bro! I appriciate the listen and comments. Jeff is a purest when it comes to stuff like this and sometimes I think he get a lil over technical and less emotional. LOL But he can sho do the Elmore James thing Good!

Love the slide guitar... and the song itself was very cool but!

I couldn't get passed the irony of a Jesus on my mind Blues
song.

Great recording though! It reminds me of SRV (R.I.P.)

I didn't read the other comments yet..

very cool that this was done live.. you probably keep hearing this , but I have to say this singer sounds sooo much like George Thorogood (sp?).. and that's not a bad thing for this style.. I did enjoy the slide guit.. I heard some clams with the rhythm guit, and the mic sounds like it's being a bit too overdriven.. it's distorting a bit too much at times.. also I don't like that 'type' of reverb setting on the drums.. You can hear it mostly on the high -hat.. some minor timing issues and the crash cymbals were a bit too loud..

I dug it though.. great slide tone.. I think it's cool that you get the message out in this style, you just have to get it to sit a bit better.. I have heard Christian metal etc. but have never heard blues with a message like this.. Isn't that an oxy-moron? Maybe I'm just a moron.. :)

Sam;

You got good ears, Bro! Yeah, we didn't know it till I got my recording program, but the vocals are FULL of square waves on this tune and several of the others. I didn't have time to re-do this one and several more of that needed to be fixed on my program, but I did manage to get to about half of the songs. The rest will have to stand as they are for now cause we start gigging again next week and I guess it'll do for a demo CD for now. But we have learned alot from you guys here and I will be working on them as I can.

We have had several others that say we sound like Lonesome Goeoge goes to church. That doen't bother us one bit. ;) As far as Christian Blues go, there are several good bands out there but we are pretty unique in our presentation cause most of them are very traditional in their playing whereas we have tradition in Jeff and the ole throwback to the 70's, yours truely. LOL

David was probably one the greatest Bluesmen that ever lived. He wrote most of the 150 Psalms and better than half of them are him tearing his guts out to God. It is said by the Prophet that Jesus was "a man of many sorrows." that's the Blues bro, and I can't think of anything more sorrowful than being forsaken by his friends, getting crucified, and having all our sins laid on Him.

Thanks for the listen and always great suggestions, Sam! Your ears are always welcome!

Axe4Yahweh,

Hey dude,

Nice slide playing indeed!! Sweet and crunchy tune. I was waiting for you to take a solo but, that never happened:(

Not to be picky but, I thought the intro would have been much more efective without the count in. And I heard a reverb "swirl" that made the mix unnecisarily dirty. Was that from the drums or am I just hearing things?

Another cool blues tune Axe:cool: !!

Thanks for posting it.

Theron.

Nice one Axe. I love listening to a good slide.

The message has many avenues through music. Keep 'em coming man.

See ya at the house.

Hey Bro! Good hearing from you. Glad you enjoyed the tune.

As I told Sam in the above post, this is one that never got fixed on my recording program. The Verb is probably from where Jeff ran it through the ART reverb unit when he transfered the basic tracks from The Tascam Cassette to the Philips CD Burner. I'm pretty sure that Sharon was running her Yamaha DTXpress drums dry. I have never heard her use the reverb on them Live or recording Live.

I didn't play a Lead on this one because 1) it was unnecessary and 2) we already have two 6+ Min Tunes on this Demo. ;)

Hey, I got sumpin for ya. Last Monday night. Jeff and I went all they way back to the original tracks on "I Love My Jesus" and completely Remixed the thing. It still ain't the greatest, but we did what we could. Just finished uploading it and will post it. Hope ya like it.

Thanks for the input!
