i probably wouldn't normally be posting any more songs up here, but last time people told me to keep em coming, so i figured for my ego's sake, may as well eh?
just kidding about the ego part. be as hellishly cruel and honest as you please. i'm serious.

--- SONG NAME ---
" THE ARDIPITHECUS RAMIDUS "

found here:

again, i just used my very limited stuff: a couple 58's and a rode nt1 through a mackie 1604vlz (not pro) into a motu 1224. i wrote it, played everything, recorded it, mixed it etc etc etc all by my lonesome.

thank you.

p.s.

as requested, i didn't use autotune this time. thank you for the good advice. although, now i can't blame vocal problems on the equipment anymore... damn :)

wow..
this was unexpected...this sounds pretty freakin good..
man your voice .....reminds me of.....someone....i like the.."feel"..of the vocals..that make sense?..it sounds easy...like your not trying.....nice.

i like the washout on the vocals...."the flames that are blue..green blu..een...bleen...

cool "personal" sound you got here..

jamal

whoa... thanks a lot.

i'm pretty happy with the sounds i can get out of an NT1, with a little work (i made an "exciting compressor" for that 'personal' sound).

i'm also looking for mix comments.

This is Great!!!...

No Complaints whatsoever....

This the most upfront vocal I have heard in a while, but it's still not tooo upfront that it stands out like a sore thumb.

perfect.

Nice work. Pretty easy to listen to. I noticed a few intonation probs on the vox, but not serious. In fact, in a live performance they would probably add character. Very intresting to listen to and heady stuff.

good job

I don't have anything to add. I'll agree with Jagular on a couple of vocal pitch issues, but it's cooler without the autotune according to all these snobs around here. I personally LOVE the sound and ease of use of Autotune, but I'm in a definite minority there.

The actual song is the best part of this post....the writing and arrangement, I mean. If you're gonna' jack with this anymore, you might consider using some more compression on the vocals...they seemed to bounce out here and there...overall, it was really cool, though.

Post Lots,
Chris

by the way, if anyone can recommend a nice world-class mic that would work well with my voice, feel free to suggest it.

i'm looking to rent a great vocal mic for my band's next album project. mind it, i'm not the singer - but my brother is, and his voice sounds nearly identical to mine.

No complaints here Dude! Nicely recorded! Nice Groove to it!

More true than ya know... :D

Studio Projects C-1

I don't have one, but I read a lot, and it's my next purchase. I've actually seen frequency response graphs that compare it (favorably) to the Neuman U-87... I've read some reviews where people liked the sound of the C-1 even BETTER than the U-87. Anyway, you can ebay one for around $200, I think.

Good luck.

hi, thanks for the suggestion, but my NT1 is in the same class (approximately) as the C1. even though people here will say the NT1 sucks shit now (they used to love it)... i personally far prefer the sound of an NT1 on my voice over the C1.

anyway, i was looking for a much higher-class microphone than either of those. i've had poor results with an NT1000 (worse than with my NT1, surprisingly), and I'm guessing an NTK would be similar.
I was thinking something in the class of a U87, or even a U47. maybe not those exact mics though... i don't know how they'd fair on my (or my brother's) voice. that's where i need input.

Dude...you know that probably 90% of the stuff you've heard on the radio recorded over the past 30 years was sung thru a U87...There has to be a reason for that, other than people just love shelling out money to european mic manufacturers.

If you've got the scratch for a U-87, ummm... do it.

Can I borrow it?

:D

DUDE! I love all the stuff you've been doing. IT's great. Tell me when you guys get your demo done or whatver man, or if you record any other stuff. Cause this is awesome.

So your a tad flat in a couple spots, big deal! We don't need no stinking AutoTune.:p

Any song with beer bottles clanking in the background is cool in my book.:D

Nice job on the recording/mix.
