My first try that includes some simple orchestrations with GPO.

I would like to hear your comments about the mixing.

I thought it was very clean. With everything going on it was still balanced well overall [listening through headphones].

Both songs reminded me of those instrumental montages they play at the beginning of those "how to play....." style of guitar videos.

Good job.

Racing Clouds - Mixed nicely. A little 80s, but I think we can all use a little 80s.

But more than mixing, amazing playing. I really like the guitars. Actually the synth arrangements and the guitar arrangements are very nice. The music is composed very nicely. :)

I'll probably listen to the other later. Working away from the desk for the most part. :)

I listened to both tracks. They both have a "Images and words" era Dream Theatre vibe. The playing/writing was fantastic even if a bit dated. The mixes sound well balanced only real complaint is that the guitar tones sound direct.

"Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name may be incorrect or the server is busy. Try again later."

I'll do just that.

Fantastic stuff. I absolutely love both tracks! Great playing.
As far as the mixing, no real suggestions here. The material is good enough to cover up any problems that may be there...I couldn't notice. :D
(How's that for a cop out on my part...haha)

I very rarely get the chance to listen to anything in the clinic anymore, as work has become a little too hectic. It was nice to be able to drop in and find something this good. Thanks for posting these, I love this stuff. ;)

Thanks for your comments. I would like to know what makes it sound 80´s ? About guitar tones... i think rhythm guitars are fine but solos sound maybe too clean. Have to keep tweaking my Pod XT :)

I think the fact that there's a solo and it is played with skill is what says it's 80s. These days, they can't really solo. Everybody that knows 3 chords is in a "band" signed up to a major label, putting out stuff. They make the guitars really loud and don't focus so much on playing the correct notes. That's the music scene in general. Of course, there's many exceptions to that. Even here we see that many indie bands/artists actually care about creating music not pop music with a heavy commercial sound and catchy hooks. :)

80s dist. was a lot cleaner than today's metal/funk/crunch dist sound. :) Just my opinions.

If thats the definition of 80´s :)

I listen mainly progressive rock and fusion jazz so thats where my influences come.

Excellent, great, fantastic job. I'm not into this style of stuff at all, but everybody seems to be kicking ass so I'm going to have to give it a big ole thumbs up. Drumkit from hell?

I listened to Dark Matter. Very very nice. Mix balance is just right, IMO. The phrygian Spanish gtr at :45 is beautiful and hits me as a good aesthetic connection between the evocative orchestration of the intro and the heavier gtr that enters at 1:20. It comes back for a brief interlude around the 4 min mark, but I was hoping to hear more of it – such as licks between the phrases of the elec gtr. Good as it is though. :)

I have to say, these are awsome! I really like instrumental rock/metal music too, and thats the kindof music i like to play too. I thought the tones were excellelent, especially the ryhtm guitar. Drums also sounded good to me too! Would really like to hear more when you record more :D

Brilliant stuff!
