I was recently issued a new laptop for work. I also use it to mix down/record some tracks ;):D. It's a DELL Latitude D630. Nothing special - no firewire, just USB and crappy Sigma Tel soundcard. This latest model came with a 2-prong AC adapter, instead of the 3-prong one with my previous laptop (same model previous version). There is virtually NO NOISE from the laptop like there was with the old adapter. I just recorded with the adapter plugged in - forgot to unplug it like I usually do. Listened back and no hum/buzz like I used to get. I don't know why the difference but it extends my recording time (unlimited) compared to battery. Finally some good news - knock on wood....:D

yeah dude, are you talking about noise coming from guitar amps while you record? that confounded me for the LONGEST time...i can't tell you how long it took me to figure out to unplug my laptop. hahaha
