couldnt figure out which forum to use, so pardon the question if it dont go here......... Does anybody know of any kind of "chord analyzing" software?? Like where you put in any song file and it gives you a pretty good estimate to what key the song is in and what chords are being used? I've only seen 2 such programs. One by Sienzo and the other one is Band in a Box. Are there any others like this?? thanks guys

Not that I know of. Computers & SoundCards forum is usually a good place to post software questions. ;)

I think the quickest/easiest/most reliable way to find out what key a song is in, is listen to the last chord of the song. Or the "resolving" chord, when the song sounds finished. That's usually what key the song is in.

Some songs change keys throughout though.

I don't know shit about music theory btw.

LOL.....i didnt know much theory either. But i been doing my homework :D we gonna probably do some recording this weekend for the first time in a few months and we'll see if we improved any  . Actually the Sienzo software is pretty good though. It helped me figure out a bunch of songs. Just wondering if there were any other programs out there

Actually, I believe Melodyne can do it. Not sure. It's a really advanced program though and is usually used for pitch correction...among other things. It's not that hard to use.

Sorry dude that's the only one I can think of. Maybe someone else knows of other ones.

dunno if it can analyse chords but it can certainly tell notes (the problem with chords is that it would have to break the wave form into different notes which would be quite hard)
