Does anybody have any experience with any guitar amp simulation software such as Amplitude, ReValver, Warp, etc? Specifically PC based stuff. Thanks!

i've used cakewalk's guitar tracks amp sim effect.
it works pretty good actually, but i've found that if u r just running line in. it still sounds "pingy" unless u add a little crunch w/ the sim. but then it just gets too gritty. i spent countless hrs tweaking it, but wasn't very successful.
maybe some of the others work better, but i just don't think u can really get a great guitar sound running line in....
just my opinion though.

I never worked with it myself, but I hear great reviews for the AMPFARM. Don't know if its strickly ProTools.

Yes, Amp Farm is Pro Tools only. I used it in a studio a few months back and it was incredibly realistic - although the studio ran me through an Avalon tube preamp/compressor, which warmed things up quite a bit!

Mostly I used Vox and Marshall sounds, and I was very happy with them.

I've never personally used ampfarm, but I have had it demonstrated to me, and it sounded pretty nice. My one drawback with that approach however, is unlike MIDI, where you might change a keyboard sound, or something like that, I find that the sound a guitar player is getting has a lot to do with how the guitar gets played in a lot of cases....and this demonstrator was glowing on the fact on what you can do after the case...rather than "live". For casual rhythm chunking, I suppose it would be interesting to say...."oops, wrong amp...better change that". ...but I don't really see that happening either.

but...all that's off the subject of the original post:rolleyes:

this program is ridiculously real, Both of my guitarists, i play bass, recorded direct and then got the amp sounds out of the line 6 ampfarm. We all thought this was amazing. As it goes now that I've gotten into recording myself, I realized the guy wasnt exactly the best, or close, just had a $500,000 studio and couldnt use mics. He had a beautiful drum set, tama, miced with the best you can buy, and then triggered. It all sounded great on his genelecs but later we realized it really sucked and there was no bass guitar, sucks for me. Sorry for rambling, the ampfarm is amazing, its got marshall models from about 20 different years, its even got mesa's that havent been invented yet, j/k. But seriously it is awesome.

Of the 3 products you mentioned, Amplitube, ReValver and Warp, the later is the most CPU-hungry and less versatile. Amplitube is the best IMHO although somee Revalver presets are quite nice too. Amp Farm was never ported to the PC platform.

Ampfarm is for the Protools TDM/HD systems only, so it's out of reach for 99% of home recorders.

went to pro tools hd clinic yesterday....

Checked out amp farm, very nice, but, you got to check out Amplitube from IK Multimedia simply great for lack of better words. I liked it more than the line 6 amp farm.it had better metal tones. If anyone intrested in checking it out: www.amplitube.com
