would you trust him?

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmartinolanaQQhtZ-1

i sent him a message that goes

"what sort of music do you listen to/record?
where did you learn about recording?
what do you do for a living?
do you have any more pictures of you and the truths?

could you borrow a camera and take a picture of you with the speakers, your username on a piece of paper, and post it?

why have you been a member since 2002? you've never bought or sold anything until now?

no one will buy anything from you until you get un-suspicious. the demographic of people that would buy these would be fairly educated people. if you are about to scam an obviously poor musician, you have no soul."

i hear ya man... but i think if i was to try to rip off someone i could get a whole lot more inticing than "B" monitors and a bellari pre or whatever he had...

i'm po'

i'm using a sharp stereo right now..

Man, if you wrote an email to me like that I'd probably bar you from bidding on my auctions. You sound like a real high maintainence buyer. You are being pretty rough on the guy-he probably doesn't have a digital camera and can't post pictures. And why should he answer all those personal questions?

There's no question that he will do a lot better with his auctions once he gets a digital camera and posts pictures of his items. That's a good suggestion. But nobody takes a mugshot of themselves with their gear and their username on a piece of paper.

I find his auctions a bit impersonal and lacking much in the way of description, but not as suspicious as you seem to think they are.

If you don't trust the guy, don't bid on his auctions. It's that simple.

i see red lights flashing, not worth the risk, looks dodgy as hell

The guy has zero feedback...I would stay away.

this guy is making himself look like a dude in a dark alley asking kids if they want to get a bike out of his van.

he has 0 feedback, been around for 5 years, has a handful of other auctions, and HE is selling to me. if someone is going to give me more than 200 dollars to take a picture...i'll do it in a heart beat. actually...i've done it in a heartbeat. people ask...why do you only have x feedback and you've been around for so long. can i see more pictures. i give them anything they want. it's not a big deal

i actually bought my guitar from a 0 feedback guy...i asked if he could get more pictures...and he was happy to answer any of my questions. i bought from him, and i got the guitar without a hitch.

its the internet. i don't automatically trust everyone

I always include pictures of the actual item for sale with my auctions. It's incredibly important as you say, and I personally never bid on items missing a picture. But not everyone has a digital camera, and you should simply factor that into the price you are willing to bid, or if you bid at all.

This guy should have included pictures and better descriptions, but I really don't see anything waving a huge red flag to me. Could be fraudulent, but is just as likely not. Again, you don't have to bid, it's your choice. This guy will learn when he doesn't get what he wants for his gear. A little salesmanship goes a long way on eBay.

Don't see the problem, myself.

I've been a member about that long and I've never bought or sold anything either. I have bid on several items, but I've never won an auction.

Have you actually asked him for pictures?

hmmm...something actually makes me trust the guy.

he downed a price of shipping of one of his items.

I think that "something" that is making you trust him is your desire for this to be legit. I'd stay away personally, if somethings too good to be true its usually a scam. Even if it is a for real, without more proof its still a high risk.

Also, thats a starting bid...usually most bidding on ebay is done in the last 30-60 seconds.

'On May-09-07 at 19:42:02 PDT, seller added the following information:
If anyone would like a picture of me, the item and my username on a piece of paper feel free to email me with your email address and I will provide you with proof of item. thanks marty "

hahahah looks like you made an impression

I looked at that auction and nothing looks fishy or suspicious to me. I have been registered at Ebay for years and years now and have very little feedback. It just means that I don't buy stuff daily off Ebay.

Remeber here that this is an auction... I would look at it not as he is selling something to you, but that you are buying something from him. I would have to agree with Sonic Albert here. If I were selling something on Ebay and you wrote me what you posted in the first post in this thread, I would definately not respond and bar you from my auctions. Most of your questions had no bearing on the auction itself.

yep. he responded extremely well.

most times on ebay, people don't bid on these. thats how i got my guitar for a good price.

i do realize that i put the auction at risk posting about it online with a bunch of other recording people..
PLEASE DONT BID

haha..that's all i can do.

the guy gave you his phone #....call him up and say hi. if he picks up you know its his phone and you are probably good to go. I have bought items on ebay from zero feedback sellers ...All I did was call the guy and talk with him for a while. And paid with an Amex. Personally, I dont bid if there's no pic of the actual item (unless its new in the box from a retailer), and I wouldn't buy monitors used anyway.

I'd be leary not so much of the seller but of the product sold. Those are the monitors I have. I bought them new from Zzounds, and 1 or 2 weeks later one of them blew up. Made a god aweful noise, and a big puff of blue smoke shot out the tweeter. Fortunately, Zzounds was awesome and sent me a new pair, AND a return shipping label so I could send back the defective pair. It cost me nothing but a week or so of time. Behringers are known to be of poor quality. I think you might want to factor the chance of defect, need for a legit warranty, etc, into your decision. This ebayer is not going to provide that kind of customer service, that's for sure.

Finally, (and maybe this was mentioned in the sale, and I missed it) are they a matched pair?

I'm seeing pix...I clicked on the individual items and it popped me to the item(s) pages and,...there are photos...look like pro/staged photos to boot.

i went with another auction.

it was 244 with shipping included AND insurance, and from a reputable user. i thought...20 bucks is well worth insurance.

that way if they are doa, i can get my money back, as the auction says they're in complete working condition
