So...I want to rap and record my rap

Hi everyone.

I want to do the talk-while-rhyming thing into a microphone and record it onto my computer. My microphone is a NT1-A Rode condenser microphone.

My DAW program is Reaper.

I am wondering which audio interface/pre-amp I should get if all I want to do is rap and maybe play guitar into the interface on occasion.

At the moment I am looking to buy the M-Audio M-Track Plus 2-Channel Interface w/ Digital I/O.

At the moment it has all the system requirements I need (phantom power etc.) but the only thing I am confused about is the interface only has two channels. Would I need more channels? I recall reading someone who said you need four stereo inputs (I don't know anything about recording yet).

So my question is: is this interface a good choice for what I want to do? If not, do you have any better recommendations?

And finally, I would like to thank any of you who decide to answer this. None of you (as far as I am aware) are being paid to offer advice and you're doing this out of pure generosity. Thanks to anyone who even reads this, too.

The M-Track sounds like a good purchase for your needs.

Four stereo inputs? That is 8 channels. No need for that unless you plan to record a live drum kit or whatever.

A two channel interface like the M-Track will allow you two separate mono tracks recorded to your DAW. You could record guitar and vocals at the same time to different tracks. Unless you need to record more than that at once, or plan to in the near future, then you will be good there.

If you are using Windows 8, make sure the unit has drivers for it (compatible).
