What up guys. Let me tell you the situation right now. I recently just bought the MobilePre and the MXL 990 for recording songs. I use Adobe Audition. The problem is that I don't feel like I'm fully utilizing it because I can't mix down vocals nicely. I run a few effects on it but that's it. Like for instance, when I play it in the car stereo my vocals tend to get drowned out with the bass or beat. So I was wondering if some of you guys would so kindly listen to one of my songs, since I've only recorded one song with the new equipment, and give me some helpful tips on what to do with it.

It should be the first song called "I Remember".

Anything helps. I make hip hop by the way. Alright peace.

doesnt sound that bad to me .... maybe just bump the vocal track up a bit

Hi

It's pretty good. I think you should lower the drum (both kick and snare) to make more place for the bass and the vocals. Also, a slight boost of 2dB at 7K seems to give more air to the song.

/Jack Real.

Sounds alright, man. Actually sounds really good. I hear your vocals just fine. Drums sound a bit thin, but that's probably how the sample is supposed to sound. I would turn up the keys and bass a bit so that it takes us somewhere after the word "remember"...Good spittin', dude. Very left coast.

Cool stuff man. Drum needs to be down just a bit. Vocal sounds a bit thin but I can't think if bringing it up would help it or not. Maybe a bit of mids.

sounds good to me

the only thing i could say is that you should turn up the "stuff" in the background a little. the keys are ok, but the multi perc/effects maby just a little?

oh the bass, try making a low cut............. the bass has tons of energy in the 60-80 range (about, i'm guessing) if you cut thare (or maby even lower)
the volume of bass in most stereo's will remain apperantly the same, but the vox won't be buried on systems that actually push thoes freq's. (in theory)

i like it.

wow, I have heard a lot of "potential rap mixes" and I admit that this this the first time I was impressed with the tune. good song man. I suspect that the problem your having is your car has a dank stereo. and you are hearin the bass drown out the vocals. the reason is when you mix it your stereo isnt setup like your car. so you dont hear it that way. I like giraffes idea of puttin a limit on the bass, so you dont have to turn it down... but hey, I like your lyrics, and vocals approach. doesnt sound all tired like some of the other aspiring artists I have heard.

however one thing is it resembles eminem, I dont know if this is good or not, those are BIG nikes to fill. if you can fill em, if that is possible, go for it, but you dont want people to say ahh he is a slim shady knockoff. maybee if they said hey his is just like marshall... hmm... again tough nikes.

thanks guys, appreaciate all the feedback...just to let you guys know I'm 17 years old and am also of Japanese background. I get Jin more than Eminem, also been told that I have content similar to Mos Def and Masta Ace. This was actually a poem that I turned into a song and was happy with the track. thanks again peoples, alright man peace! But sorry if I didn't make it clear I don't have control over the instrumental files.
