I kept going to my car and when listening, said to myself, "You are missing a lot of low end information". I'd read time and again that they weren't necessary.

It's like going from rear wheel to front wheel drive - or from front wheel drive to four wheel drive: I ain't going back. I can hear shit I just wasn't hearing right. After hearing translations in the car? Suddenly they sound exactly like what I heard in the studio.

My puzzle is, only, why the heck it took me so long to incorporate one into my monitoring setup.

I'm a bit of a stubborn idiot at times, I guess.

This is the first release I mixed w/ the new setup. It's a bit of a throwback to old school singer-songwriter times. A lot of it is very simple arrangements with mostly solo acoustic guitar or piano, w/ orchestral accompaniment. There is full band stuff interspersed as well. I thought I'd go at it slowly. I thought I'd post everything up so context between songs is added.

Love the 'Lesson' tune but you've got a lot up front that swamps out the lead vocal in places, not to mention a lot of equall volume on tracks. But a great tune that just needs some variable dimension to the parts.

Great tunes overall - you have a great voice,

A very seventies feel to this. That's something I like, and always appreciate. A bit of Seasons in the Sun in there somewhere. A bit of Super Furry Animals. The drums feel a bit tinny and distant to me, and not as present as the vocals are. That might well be the effect you are going for. But I do like the song.

The lower end is lovely. Bstrom has valid comments too.
