This is a rough copy of a song I've been working on. Really rough, more of a "proof of concept" that I intend to be in the Country vein or a crossover. A different singer will be doing the main tracks when we go into final production. This is rough sketch of what I expect the song to sound like, but is far from complete.

Please offer opinions as to what you think, but remember it's a work in progress. I'm doing all the tracks on this. I need opinions and ideas.

I've already started the copy write process. So here it is:

Thanks.

Excellent recording and song, Phil.

Remember me some Eagles tunes, then...
Adding guitars, more guitars :D (slide lines too...)is a very good option to this song (on a "tradicional way", which I prefer).I see "potential eletric guitar points" at : intro/0:45/1:15 (a solo line,"talking with" vocal)/ and at 1:42.
Same with soft keyboards (strings (or) pads) in the "B" part (0:45/1:42).

And vocals sounds excellent to me.

Congrats again, Phil!!

Sounds pretty good. Not my style of music, but I didn't rush to turn it off, so not bad. :D

Hi Phil...I cranked it!!

Why is someone else going to sing it? The vocal on it is great! They need to be brought up just a tad more.

Nice acoustic.....

Nice lyrics too.

Love your new tune!!!

Very nicely tracked Phil. I like your drum sounds. The acoustic has a really cool part and with the bass it makes it easy to feel the groove. See if it sounds any better without the acoustics not panned all the way out. There is a big stereo gap and it may sound less separated with a little less hard pan. Really cool song. And good performances, whats wrong with the vocals? Just a sketch for the real singer? Reminds me of the eagles too. Is this your band? Nice stuff:)

Am I the only one who thinks of REM when I hear this?

Good stuff man. The vocals aren't bad at all. A little hard to understand at times, but not too bad. I'm enjoying this song. Not hitting me as a country song though.

Keep it up!

If this is the rough, I can't wait to hear the final. Very nice work. In fact, I have to admit I usually "sample" these first at work--just bits here and there, then listen more at home if they interest me.

But I had to listen to this one all the way through. Great combination of technical skill (both playing & recording) and songwriting. And I agree with the others that your vocals are spot on.

I have to know though, how'd you record the acoustic part? If it was double tracked, it was done really well. Curious as to how you arrived at your great stereo image on the guitar.

Great work!

It's just two recordings of the same guitar panned left and right. It's kind of a samba riff that's played where the low guitar strings are the same as what the bass plays and the rest is counterpoint. Hard to explain actually.

No, this is just me by myself. I have it that open with the acoustics because I'm hoping to put in some slide guitar or solos or...something. Haven't figured out what really.

Any ideas?
