I'm in a country rock/ indie rock band and we're about to do some recording, so I've decided that its time to finally buy a new snare. I currently have a Tama Starclassic 3.5"x13" (i think on that 13" part). Its pitch is too high for the music we're doing, so I was looking to go to at least a 5" snare. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm hoping to keep it in the 200 dollar range, definately no more than 300 bucks. I'm open to any suggestions - metal, wood, vintage, etc...
A pearl free floating snare is always a good thing. plus you can change the shells.
If you go to ebay, you can get a ludwig supraphonic 14x5 for about $150. The supraphonic is the worlds most recorded snare.
