Snap, Crackle, Pop and other stuff...Sonar 4 Producer

I had no problem working on a project the first time I opened it. I worked on it for a couple of hours adding some effects here and there. Not a glitch.

Then came last night. It was all warbly and crackly. It sounded faint and distorted...almost like it was clipping. When I changed the buffers, there was no sound at all. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Sonar, but nothing. I checked my drivers on my soundcard. I made sure the firmware was updated. I took a track and transferred it to Reaper without an issue...but I paid for Sonar! It should work. Any ideas?

My setup:

Sonar 4 Producer
RME Fireface800
Dell Laptop Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (4MB/2.00GHz/667MHz, 2GB Ram)

Ok...so it's not the picture cache since it is doing it again. I've cleared the cache many times.

Any ideas?

I disable the onboard sounds when I use my external soundcards. I use Echo Audiofire2 for small things and the RME Fireface800 for bigger projects.
