Hi all,

I've recently upgraded from a Dell to an Asus. It runs Windows 7, has 4GB of RAM, and an Intel Core i5 processor - a big step up from my Dell Core Duo with 2GB! Having said that I didn't have the kind of problems on the old PC that i'm having on the new one!

I use Sonar 8 Producer Edition, and have a Edirol/Roland UA-25EX soundcard:

When recording, after only 2 or 3 tracks it's dropping out repeatedly, bad enough that at times it's sending Sonar into "Not Responding" mode. I've downloaded and installed the updated Win 64-bit patch from the Cakewalk site for my soundcard, and reinstalled Sonar 8 with 64 rather than 32-bit.

In Audio options, I've tried both ASIO and WDM drivers, but same result. I've got my advanced driver switch on on my soundcard, have made sure the UA-25EX is both my IN and OUT, disabled my wireless, etc etc.....

Pleeeeease help, I feel like I've tried everything! Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is Win 7 64 bit also?

You say you "disabled wireless etc. etc." Can you be more specific on the 'etc.'? Also, what steps did you take to disable the wireless?

I'm assuming this is a Laptop? What can you tell us about the Hard Drive? Is Sonar and the audio files set up on separate drives?

What are your buffer/latency settings in Sonar? In the Edirol Control Panel?

Have you applied any of the Sonar 8 patches (8.01, 8.02, 8.31)?

Increase the cache to 2048 mb. I bet it's at the default of 256 mb.

What Supercreep said.

And turn off your anti-virus software, screensavers, MSN messenger, and the 500 other apps that are running in the background.

Many thanks for the replies - I've installed the 8.01 patch, and it seems to be working ok now......fingers crossed. If it happens again though I'll be sure to try the options you guys have suggested.

Cheers!
