Linux Man...
Ok, so I am sure that most of you have heard of smoky amps by now. I guess they have been around a few years, or at least quite a while. Anyway, today I picked one up at a music store going out of business (Sad, but got a sooper deal) So, I plugged it in and it rocks. Yes, these are the ones created in empty cigarrette packages. So they have like a four inch speaker and an in and out jack. The speaker out jack is way cool. I powered a 4x10" cab at the store, and it sounded great. When you play it just by itself it sounds pretty cool, if you roll off the bass like on a strat, you can get that certain AM radio quality thing happening. Anyway, they have distortion by turning the volume knobs on the guitar all the way up, they are way cool practice amps that fit your case. Just wondered if anyone else has one or has used one much. I am thinking it will make its way into the studio very soon.

Yes, I've got a couple of them. They're so cool. I keep one in the little accessory compartment in my Strat case. It's great for practicing, or whatever, and you don't want to have to stay inside with your amp. I take mine out and sit on the front porch swing and play. They sound great, too. Nice sustained distortion with your guitar volume all the way up. And they clean up a bit (but not too clean) when you back off the volume. Best $24 accessory for any guitarist.

I have one a recorded a monster guitar sound with it. Whats so nice about it is it's so small you can stick it any where! Drawers, ventaltion ducts, and stick a mic in front of it and you can get some crazy tone.

I've recorded some interesting tracks with that amp. A U87 an inch from the speaker is a great sound, especially when mixed with some dry signal.

But my favorite was a pump organ track...I stuffed a JT-30 in the pump organ, plugged it into the Little Smokey, and twirled the amp around a Sony stereo mic...instant Leslie.
