smoke machine spike through PA

Hi

I've just got a new smoke machine - not the most expensive kind, and it puts a massive spike throught our PA when I use the remote switch. Is there any way I can eliminate this spike?

Thats the heater of the unit firing up for the first time.

Put it on a seperate breaker if you can. If thats impossible, you'll need line conditioning equipment between the the mains and the music gear. A properly sized UPS is an excellent choice - these units always run off battery, and only use AC to charge the battery, thus isolating you from AC power abnomilies.
