If we did a group thing, I think 24/96 would be the more practical option, personally. I'm not sure I have the means to reliably create an analogue copy of the masters, and to be honest, the ones I've had digitally mastered do sound better than the original mix tapes (which I wouldn't let out of the house unless I had to anyway).
Aside from that, to make the album from a pure analogue source they've have to splice 4-5 bits of tape together, all of which were recorded at different calibration levels, standards, probably alignments too and maybe even different speeds. Sound like fun?
