I'm setting up an office workspace around my computer to be used for musical transcription. The computer (20" iMac) will be running Sibelius. Next to it is a keyboard controller feeding a Kurzweil PC2R, which sits on top of a CD player. I'm looking for a small mixer that can handle 3 stereo sources so that I can hear all three sources at the same time while working on transcriptions. I don't want to spend much money (as everything else in the room has squeezed the budget pretty good), but just want something that works...sound quality doesn't have to be great, but it would be nice if it were not annoyingly bad (all the good gear is in the downstairs studio, so when I want to listen, I'll go there).
One other thing that would be a plus is ability to do some rudimentary EQ. I've got a set of fairly cheap computer speakers with a sub that sound fine for most applications, but sound too boomy for jazz recordings because of the sub. If I could EQ out some low frequencies (again, CHEAPLY
) from the CD source, that would be an added bonus. Any/all advice welcome. Thanks in advance!
