One question...why cant you get access to a Grand...I know of a few places I can demo a few in soundproof rooms...I just bring a rig with a laptop...interface and a few mics...tell the sales people that you are evaluating models and wish to hear thier best.
Anyhow...my midi controller through a Yamaha rack synth sounds better than most uprights.
