Das......Is your problem with lyrics or music? I often find that once the lyrics are written, a melody usually falls out of them and the chords can be created by building the harmonies off the melody. So this is where I'll echo what pouxhawk said.............. try reading a newspaper and find an article that you feel strongly about, visit a hospice, go to a seedy bar and start a fight, anything that'll strike up a strong emotional response. Then it's just a matter of putting your feelings into words, any words at first. Sometimes they'll come out already in song form, sometimes it's just a stream of consciousness, anyway is fine, they can be organized later.
If you're into 12 bar blues lyrics are a snap
Bar 1-4: Make a statement
Bar 5-8: Reiterate the statement
Bar 9-12: Resolution to the statement
As an example, two verses off the top..................
The moon woke me up this morning, told me get up get outta bed,
Yeah the moon woke me up this morning, told me drag your damn ass outta bed.
I got nowhere to go this morning, gonna lay here and rest my head.
The Moon told the sun on me, and the sun came and burned my eye,
Yeah the moon told the sun on me and the sun came and burned my eye.
I got nowhere to go this morning, gonna lay here until I die.
Just a bit of formulated silliness scribbled out in two minutes.
