Slow Down Effect

Hi,

In Britney Spears "oops I did it again" there is a section of the song where the chorus slows down, fades out and drops in pitch. In its place a synth comes in and the backing track is restricted to a thin set of frequencies while Britney and some other guy have a cheesey conversation on top.

How would I go about creating such an effect. My DAW is Cubase. I can provide a sample of the song this evening should some require it (although not sure if this is legal).

Thanks in advance guys,

Sammy.

Well that sounds exactly what I want but after a couple of weeks on and off playing with it I can't get the thing to work.

Basically on the GUI is a button that allows you to scratch the track to a stop, then bring it back in, however it is absolutely impossible to apply the effect without manually pressing the button in the GUI. Any ideas?

what software are you using? AA has something in its factory effects that does that...I used it in The Meanest Two Inches by a local band called A Road Eternal. Listen to it at about 15 to 18 seconds...

this what you are talking about???

To answer the question that you asked in the PM to me...AA refers to the software Adobe Audition. There is a plug that comes with the package that will give that effect. You can find it in your effects list at Time/Pitch - Pitch Bender

Man, that Britney Spears is an Audio Engineering genius. Good luck replicating her tricks.

Thanks guys for all your help. I'll keep playing about till I get what I want - and I know some with Adobe Audition so might take my tracks over to his studio and have a play with that tool.
