hey what is the difference between Slip or Grid mode, because when i first started to use pro tools i didn't use the click built within the program and i used an external one and when i go to add in a new trakc and try to line something up it only goes to where there is only a "grid" line i guess u could say. i just want to be able to click hold and line anything up anywere, there's gotta b a way to do that?

Go to Slip mode and you should be able to line things up. Then you can go back to Grid mode if you want and the waves won't move from where you placed them.

ok so i should be able to like prag and place any track or wav file anywere and not have to worry about it Having to line up perfectly within the "grids" i guess?

ha wish i knew slip mode from when i first started, it makes everything so much easier.

in grid mode hold command and click the thing you want to move freely. but if you set the tempo of the session to what you external click is, i should not matter. the grid should help you line things up?

when i say session tempo i mean the red <> up in the tempo ruler

did i understand you question right?

if this dose not help then slip it up but i love grid mode.

yea man i got it. i jsut wanted to know what exactly the slip tool did, and now i do and i am using it none stop taking out every little breathe and small things that shouldn't be in the song out! :)
