This is one of the 3 songs that is going to be a free download on our site. It's called Slip Away.

Slip Away(MP3 128Kbps)

I'm hoping to finish up the CD by the end of the week, then I can send it out for duplication. Any feedback on this one is apriciated as feedback has helped in the past getting better sound.

Can anybody recommend a place that does the whole CD duplication package. I'm going to have a 4 panel book, jewel case, back panal, all color. I was looking at this place mixonic.com. Of course I am going to send in a CD instead of sending mp3s to them to preserve quality.

Hey Monkeymanx,

Great tune! I loved the song.
Vocals: Excellent, very David Lee Roth from the "Eat em and Smile" album. That's a compliment! :)
The Bass could come up in the mix a tad for me!
Guitars are nice and tight, I like the tone!
Drums sound a little thin but the drumming is excellent, I love the double kick!

Overall I love it!
One thing.............."NO GUITAR SOLO".........I just love guitar solo's.

I listened on my pc speakers so the bass and drums are probably fine!

Nice work! :)

Nice!!! I dig this song, alot. Sounds very good to me. I'm really digging those vocals. They are good and puchy, yet sit well in the mix. And, done well, from a performance aspect.
Sweet.

Hahaha... I was thinking about a guitar solo, but the vocals really drive this song. During that bridge it's almost like a vocal solo, the "still believe" part.

I'm gonna leave the bass at that level, I've tested it on some other speakers as well as my monitors, any more and it would be too much. I just don't want to overpower with bass.

I'd like to get some more comments on the drum sound too. They actually sound good to me.

Does it sound like this is final quality to go on the CD? I just want the CD to be the best quality I can get from a home setup.

Hey Monkeymanx - powerful rock vocal performance, combined with tight guitars/bass/drums. Ready for CD - I would say yes! Can you share some details on the vocal chain - mic/pre/effects etc? Everything really great..... :D

Thanks... I recently bought the Waves Platinum Bundle(used on eBay). The Ressonace Vox compressor it comes with is awsome, and the Ressonace reverb is really great too. Basically the vocals just go through the comp and into the reverb.

Some of the tracks have that delay on them, I just used the mod delay that is in Cubase SX3.

Vocals were recorded with a Shure Beta 87C into a Firepod.

Excellent sounds man all around man.
The vocals are well done and do drive the song nicely. Cool echo effects too ;)
Definitely sounds CD quality to me. If anything there MAY be a little bit of low rumble that you could reduce. There's some plugins for DC rumble removing or sometimes just going into a wave editor and doing a highpass over say 40Hz or whatever's best for the song, works for me. Sometimes that helps a final recording for CD out, sometimes I can't tell the difference... just something to try

Good stuff ;)

Well, I go through the Linear Multiband compressor into the Linear Phase EQ, and in the EQ I boost 1 or 2db at 60hz to give some more overall lowend, maybe I should cut that out. I'll probably go back and do a cut at 30 or 35hz. That should take care of it.

And of course, thanks for the kind words.

I took some of the high end out of the kick drum and added a bit of low end to it. Let me know what you think.
