Question, I have a 707 drum machine and an Alesis (I forget the model but it is midi). I like the sound flexability of the Alesis and the program ease of the 707. Is there a way of programming the 707 to play the Alesis? Thanks

I don't remember offhand what the 707 is,but if it's got MIDI too you're in business.Program your stuff, hook up the MIDI out of the 707 to the Alesis MIDI in,and go to the menu or page where you can assign the MIDI Note Numbers. You want to align the numbers so that when your 707 sends out a note message for say snare, you don't get the Alesis playing handclaps etc. Most machines Manuals have a chart showing which Note Numbers play which sounds. You probably won't have to change all of them, but there will be some differences between the 2 machines.

A TR-707, is it?
Yes, the TR-707 has midi. But it hasn't got a "menu", so you can't assign note numbers anywhere. Howevery, it might, like the TR-909 have an "ext" setting where you can program external instruments. That's what you need then.

I guess the manual is the way to go. :)

Got it.............Thanks for the replies. I used the addresses from the manuel (good thing I don't throw these things away even if I don't read them) and matched them on the Alesis.
