Hi everyone, I'm new to posting but have been hanging around for a long time, just trying to absorb all this information about home recording. Well I just recently moved to a new house and have a recording room. I have my old PC that I hope to use just for recording. It's a P3 450mhz, with 320MB RAM. I reformatted the drive and only installed win2k pro and adobe audition for recording. I was hoping to simplify win2k to make the pc as efficient as possible. Does anyone know of a site that explains all the services that win2k runs and what can be safely shut down, or can anyone explain it here in a post? I should also add that there is no modem or anything to hook up to the internet on that computer, so I'd especially like to close any networking related services. Thanks in advance.

Tweaking your system for gaming is different than for recording. Gamers put a high priority on their graphics. Using accelerated graphics will eat up your resources and cause a loss in recording performance.

yeah, that makes sense. one of the profiles on that link you provided had a gaming category where a lot of services were shut off, i was asking about tweaking according to those guidelines. aside from doing these services, is there anything else in the OS that I can adjust to make more suitable for recording?
