simple VF160 question

i just got my VF160 today. i read through the manuel and started recording. while i am recording, nothing is going through the headphones. and when i try to play it back, nothign goes through the head phones. all you do is plug in the headphones to the thing labeled PHONES right?


im thinking it is jsut my headphones. but i wanna make sure before i go spend money.
 
Yep, and make sure the headphone gain is up. I like mine about halfway up.

Hmmmm...

I'm going to assume you turned up the gain on the headphones? Also, can we assume you are seeing action on the meters relative to the tracks you're recording? The master fader is up to '0'? Did your VF160 come with a demo song? Does that come through the headphones? Where did you get you unit from?
 
haha it ends up i didn't turn up the gain.. haha! i was so excited i kinda skipped of it. thanx again for you constant help billisa

Not to slight billsia,but give credit where credit is due dude...Axe4Yahweh gave you the answer in the second post of this thread.

and Billsia,the VF doesnt have a demo song.It's a top of the line machine,not a toy with demos like "some" of the bottom of the line products that fostex churns out..:D

i am well aware that he gave me the answer first. and i am grateful. but billisa has helped me in every post i have posted.... ever.(witch isnt alot but still)
and it does have a demo song..... well mine does.
 
I have a VF160 and it definitely does have a demo song. I read in some Fostex literature that not all of the machines have the demo song, for some reason known only to Fostex.
 
Yep mine has a demo..

Its actualy quite a useful thing to have because you can compare the volume and recording levels of the demo with your own and make sure you are getting hot enough signals into the vf160. Also you can look at the effects they chose and compare settings.

Pitty they don't include several demos in various styles.
