i'm not seeing something here in fruity loops. probably right here in my face.
i don't understand how to select a pattern to play in the playlist. i can only get one at a time to work. as soon as i open a second one, the first one disappears.
i don't think i'm 'selecting' it right.
my question is exactly how to select a pattern so that it is in the playlist, then how to select a second pattern, then a third pattern, etc....
i know i'm missing something simple here. thanks for patience and help with this humble person's attempt to make a little music.

I'm at work and dont recall the console exactly but :

Are you able to switch manually between patterens, I f so there is two little I think red lights/ buttons to the left of the 1-9 pattern boxes turn on the other one , I don't remember I think they are Pattern and song, switch it to song, the new window will have a bunch of patterns listed in order, goto pattern 1 and add or click on a box , put two in a row and it will play it twice, goto pattern two in the list and do the same just pu them after the last box click on pattern one or they will overlap each other. on the top of this song window there is a curved arrow thingy move it to when you want the song to stop or go back to the begining, I think.

hit CTRL/L and the playlist editor will come up.....decide which numbered loops you want to play and in what order.....

make sure the loop light (next to play) is on and hit play....it should play......

this is a very simple explaination and Im assume you know the basics....if it still isnt clear ill go deeper......

ok. i've got it now. thanks for the input.
i was opening new patterns over and over. i didn't realize i was supposed to work off the first "drum set", and then clone and modify as needed, or make a new beat off the same "drum set". if that makes sense as a way of explaining my mistake.
i'm seeing better how to manipulate this. it seems to work well, now that i'm getting the hang of it.
again, thanks for the input folks. it set me on the right track.
