dont know realy how to do this. i have got a delay stomp box i want to use on vocals live. i want to control it from stage, anyone know of a simple divice that will allow me to plug a mic in, do an aux send, return it and blend the 2 signals to sent 1 signal to FOH? i thought about just getting a compact mixer.

You answered your own question there! A small mixer is probably the easiest solution.

Yes, those are good thoughts above, a little mixer would be the best. Of course, you'll probably have to fight a sound guy about doing something like this at a gig...they tend to dislike giving up control of the sound {smile}.

Another thought. I sometimes plug a SM 58 (or any dynamic mic) right into a distortion pedal and then into the mixer for a really effected sound. If you have this effect in mind for a few lines or a section, that may be a cooler approach - you could run two mic's on stage: One normal. One super-effected. Go mic, to adapter that changes XLR to quarter inch, to pedal, to main board for the sound. Again, a sound person at a gig is going to hate you for doing this!

Or you can plug a mic into a guitar amp, that sounds interesting sometimes...

good luck,

km

You're going to get Musicians Friend????
I thought about doing that once..... :p

I wonder how using an impedance matcher would work for the input on the stomp box. It would be a hell of a lot easier than using a mixer, plus you can bypass it with just a stomp.

EDIT: I just finished reading smtcharlie's post. That's what I had in mind.

i just feel better preamping the mic before going into a stomp box. also, i prefer having a true bybass setup. probably stick with the mini mixer idea..

Can't you just plug in directly to the stomp box and adjust its level knob to get the same effect? The level should basically adjust the mix of clean sound and delayed sound, right?

That's good that you feel better about that setup, because it's the way you need to go for impedance matching and other reasons, not the least of which is that you don't want an XLR to 1/4"adapter stressing the input jack of whatever delay pedal you've chosen. That might not even last thru the first gig.

Here is my recommendation for a small mixer. They make a smaller one for $15 less but it doesn't have an aux send.
