A person recently gave me the idea to place a dried silica pouch inside the cassette compartment of my TASCAM 244 and 246. This is to prevent moisture. Does this make sense ? Is this a good idea ?

Thanks,

Daniel

I wouldn't.... I doubt you have that much moisture in the air that this is a problem!?!?

Unless you put your Porta-Studio inside a sealed plastic bag when not in use, drew all the air out of the bag and also had a silica pack in there, it wouldn't do a thing.

Do you have a humidity problem with the air in the studio? Get a hygro meter and check the reading. If you are over 80% humidity level in the room, I would think about getting a de-humidifier or proper air-conditioning for the room. Summer can be a bummer, in that respect sometimes.

Cheers! :)

Silica gel is good to place in a zip-lock bag along with a tape that has been baked to cure sticky shed.
