Hi guys

just wandering
is there a noticable difference between audio card with a s/n ratio = 95db and 105db ?

like the st audio dsp3000 vs the delta 1010?? for example

or is it not worth bothering ?

Try to search the web for how the dB scale works... it's not a linear scale, it is logaritmic..

I know its logarithmic

but they are still just numbers that dont mean much...

I just wanted to find out if there are people around on the forum who actually have users experience with those devices (or similar ones)...

Which of those two products has a S/N ratio of 95. I thought both were well over 100.

ADC&DAC3000 external rack uses Crystal CS5396 24bit/96kHz ADCs with 120dB dynamic range (a-weighted) for all stereo input channels

ADC&DAC3000 external rack uses AKM AK4393 24bit/96kHz DACs with 120dB dynamic range (a-weighted) for all stereo output channels

DSP24 host card uses the IC Ensemble Envy24 I/O controller chip

DSP24 internal I/O for standard windows system sounds (mini-jacks on card) uses SigmaTel 18bit AC-97 Codec (ADC & DAC) 95dB output S/N ratio (a-weighted)

(this is from the official staudio.com site)

The breakout box has 120dB dynamic range, it's the crappy AC97 that's included for free that has only 95dB.. First thing you do when installing a DSP24 is disabling Windows sound and this soundcard anyway.
