Hi, I´m searching for some information about repairing a Shure SM57 mic. The red wires inside the cartdrigde (r57) are bronken and I need to add some some extension wire or put some new ones. The tricky part for the first method is that I´ve accidentally cutted even more one of the wires and for the second part is that the wire, connecting to the diaphragm passes throught a concentric rim that puts it under pressure, so I don´t know how to pass new wires through there. Could anyone give me some help? (the mic is out of warranty, and I really must do it for myself). Here´s a pic of it´s actual state - img369.imageshack.us/img369/6697/imag0289ft3.jpg -(sorry but must copy paste, I could´t put a hot link in here ´cause this is my first post) Thank you

I didn't see a picture when I followed the link. Please supply image and I can assist you.

That really doesn't look like an SM57.

Get a stranded wire similar to the one that's already there and solder it onto the tag next to it - unless I misunderstood the problem?

sm57 broken cartridge

There are two red wires coming out of the head, but only one can be seen in this picture. I can´t solder extra wire from the inside cavity of the cartridge, is way to difficult so the best thing to do is unsolder both of the wires an resold longer ones that must pass through the same place the originals are passed so that the cartridge can be closed (the pictures display a R57 (sm57´s "head") almost completely unmounted) Here´s a better self-explanatory image: img232.imageshack.us/img232/507/openjp9.jpg (you must copy paste it and put it after the http:/ because I still cant put links in here)
