Shure SM58 vs Senhieser E835

Was that review on line? If so, do you have a link? The 855 is the hypercardioid version of the 845 so it stands to reason it'd be brighter, as hypercardioids usually are. I was just curious as to what else they said cause I know someone trying to decide between the two.

I use an 845 and a beta 58. I'm on stage and only know what they tell me. I like the sennheiser and I'm told it sounds cleaner, punchier than the 58. It requires more gain to achieve this. I like it in the monitors better, somehow not as mid rangey, better scoop , I guess

The review linked above I think is what he is recalling
"I found the E855 to be a bit too bright for my taste. Perhaps it could be used for vocalists or speakers with a lack of sibilance in their voice."
 
Our female singer always takes our e845 to gigs, it suits her much better than the SM58 the sound guys usually want her to use.
 
I've used SM58s a lot in the past but even on my fairly deep male voice I would take an e845 by a long way. I've not really used the 835 for vocals much but had very good results on some cabs and always on snare/hat with it. The only problem with that is that if I use an 835 for snare then there's really no use for my C1000S at all any more :D

Live, I'd take either over an SM58. And lay off on the build quality because two of my e845s have taken a hell of a beating and still work like new.
 
1) Anybody have experience with the E945?

I found them on a blowout sale for $99. Looking at the frequency plot, they appear similar to the E855, which the reviewer deemed too bright. Thoughts?

2) The E845 is all metal. What is the issue about build quality, or being delicate?

I'm researching to find a live rock performance mic specifically for vocals, that offers higher quality than the SM58.
