Shure SM58 Replacement cartridge .....

I was doing some research into a replacement cartridge for a Shure SM58 mic. So far the only place I've found one is from Shure, for $79!! Sheesh, I can buy the whole mic for $99!

I know I've replaced two cartridges in 58s before, just can't remember where I got them.

Might be time for a new mic.

I don't know what happened to it. Just quit working. Maybe I should open it up and take a look. Might just be a loose wire.

The cartridges I've replaced in the past were because the mics just started getting quieter and quieter.

I don't use the 58s that much anymore, but when I do, I need all 4 that I have. I see I can pick up a good used one on the bay for less than a new replacement cartridge. I think that makes the most since.

It's definitely worth a look. It's easy to prove where the fault is.
