I love the guitar and the groove. Vocals, as always, sound great to me and their level sound just right at first listen. I'd say bring the guitars up, even if you have to cut an EQ notch for the vocals to still shine through. This groove is really driven by the guitars so I want to hear them in my face. I don't hear much bass guitar, and I'm listening on a 5.1 system with the subwoofer under my desk where it booms like it shouldn't...so I'd expect the bass to be rattling my testicles. Yet my testes are getting no such joy. Just remember, Rami, my balls depend on bass guitar :D

Thanx man. I noticed you made the same "lack of bass" comment in at least one other thread. Is it possible you're not used to your new system yet? I'm not saying you're wrong, just asking if it's possible. I'll see how it sounds to me in a few days.

Little pops at :13 and :19. The one at :19 is pretty small, not even sure I'm hearing it. But the one at :13 is definitely there. More at 1:42, 1:52. They don't sound digital, but they're some distortion of some sort.

Crunch guitars sound a little muffled. Could use a little more presence.

Bass is a little rumbly. Not real bad, but a little bit.

Some cool sounds in there - like what you did starting at 2:26.

Drums sound very cool to me. Liked the lead guitar tone.

Love this! Clever boy!
Odd suggestion: Can you play with your pan on the vocals and have them move in and out of center?...i.e. first line starts just L of center, moves center and then back L of center as the 2nd vocal hits just R of center...repeat as necessary. Kind of like you're talking to yourself

I really like your drum sound, man. Throughout the song, I kept thinking there was something wrong, and about half-way through, I figured it is the guitar tone. Next to the drums and vocals, it sounds muffled. The performance is awesome, and I think the tone is good, but personally, I think you could keep the clarity in the drums and vocals, even if the guitar's mid-highs and highs were boosted a bit to give that guitar more clarity.

Also - the lack of bass definition was mentioned. I agree. I've got a sub here too, and have had it for about a year now. The sub-freqs in your kick could use a touch of a boost to give it more of that sick thump. You're almost there with it, so don't boost too much - just like .5 of a dB. Also - your bass could use a boost there, too.

Vocals - awesome.
Drums - even more awesome.
Performance - dope. rad. killer. etc...

Great job, man.

Thanx a lot, Triple. Hey, I went many songs without you hearing a pop. It was only a matter of time. Other people have mentioned them, too, so I'm sure they're there. But I can't for the life of me hear them, so I can't really do anything about them. Maybe if I go back to the tune in a week or so, with fresh ears, I'll hear them.

Thanx a lot, Broke. That's a little too creative for my style. I get what you're saying and it would probably even work, but I don't like getting that artistic with panning and the such. It's just a personal style thing. I really want to treat those lead vocal tracks like one track.

Funny, I was just addressing most of those things as I came here and saw your post. So, just by co-incidence, I was adjusting the bass, kik, definition on the guitars, etc....I just put a new version up and I did all I can do for all those issues. I think it's as good as I can get it without re-tracking, which I might do some time down the road. I really appreciate the listen and taking the time to help me out with those observations.

For anyone that still cares, it;s the same link all over this thread:

It would make a cool video....;)
New version is awe inspiring!

Latest mix is full of kick ass tones!

The top end of the guitars wafts in and out of sounding like hiss and sounding like top end in my cheap consumer headphones (sorry, I am not in my studio right now so I can't check that it is consistent until later). Just thought I would bring it up to get your thoughts on it. It is mostly noticeable in the chorus, but it is everywhere. It accompanies the guitars. In the verses, it is noticeable that it goes away in the breaks in the playing. Maybe it's not hiss, maybe you have a high shelf pulling the top end up, but it is coming across as hiss because it has a pretty constant sense to it.

You know, I might end up re-doing the guitars in this tune some day. It's an old guitar track, might even be the first track I did when I bought my amp. That main riff should drive the song, not distract from it. I can tell you that I never add high-end to my guitars, so that's not the issue. I might have just placed the mic too close to the cone or something, maybe just didn't dial in a good sound. But I'll give it a good listen and make a decision on that.

Sorry, two of you is a very  thought...;)
I know. The horror!!!!!

As uncomfortable as this is to watch -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STYsEXiuruU
Well that settles the question of whether I'll ever do a video with 2 of me in it.

:D

I listened again on my studio monitors and the bass sounded more balanced. But there was definitely a stripe of low-end frequencies that it wasn't exciting on my 5.1 system that other songs do. It sounded great in the studio though!

Yeah, 2's not enough. It's got to go to three or four to be funny. And even then you're taking a chance. :D

The future looks bright behind me. I'm starting to listen to the lyrics now. Good mix.

Sure thing, man. I'm glad I was able to help confirm your suspicions or whatever. Anyway... Yeah, I listened to the new mix, and it sounds 100% better. Bass is kickin', and it seems there is more of a thump on your kick. Great tune, dude.

OK man. I really appreciate it. I hope it didn't seem like I was doubting or disagreeing with you. Just wanted to make sure. Thanx buddy.

:D Cool. Most of my lyrics don't REALLY mean anything. I just try to make them all sound like they belong in the same song together. I mean, Paul McFuckingCartney had a hit with "My Salamander". At that point, I decided "Fuck it. I'm writing lyrics too". :D

Thanx again, Po. You da man.

Well, if I get anywhere within this ballpark of quality I can die a happy man.

I'm not experienced enough with mixing to say anything other that it sounds good to my ears. But, in terms of guitar tone and playing, I like to think I know a little, and the tone here is really great and the playing is spot on.

Love the song too!
