Should I still invest in SM57s??

Flavors will come and go, but the venerable SM57 is what it is for a reason.

Because today's SM57 is riding on the laurels of yesterdays SM57 Unidyne.

57's are sooooooooooooo useful for anything. Be cautious of used 57's or 58's on Ebay. Lot's of fakes out there.

This. I have bought fake 57s on ebay. Doesn't feel good, doesn't sound as good. Though they do work. YMMV.

Buy two and then reassess your needs. I have three, and I never use the third one.

Just got my first pair of 57's myself. Am I proud? Hell yes I'm proud.

I am however starting to think I should get another one. I use the two on drums but there are none left for the bass cab. Damn.

I don't know if I'd use a 57 on bass as there isn't as much low end as a larger dynamic or a condenser would provide. Maybe in a pinch.
