I'm guessing

I've played several Telecaster Deluxe and Customs, and if it wasn't for already owning a Squier Fat Telecaster and Ibanez Jet King, I'd be looking to buy one of each.

Matt

You'll be looking to buy one of each anyway. :D

And then you'll start modding the hell out of them.

Personally, I say, if you like it, get it. There are probably other guitars that are 'better', or 'better for the money', but I don't think it's going to be a POS.

If that's what floats your boat, go for it.

I've got my eye on yet another Squire Tele. I know, I know, but it looks so cool!

:o :o
DUDE - did you get this thing? I got one before I got my Thinline, and it needed to have the tuners upgraded to stay in tune, and the knobs would not stay tight no matter what. It twas a pain in the ass, overall. Nice neck, tho, and sounded swizzeet.

I like it. I love teles. They always seem to play so nicely, but that brings up a small "problem". I know it is easy to look online and find a good priced guitar from a well-known manufacturer, but I am a firm believer in holding the guitar, playing it, and feeling how it plays in your hands. I think that in this case, you're going to get a good guitar, but always keep in mind that what you see isnt always what you get (or pay for) :(

An LP Special and Tele are two different things to me. They just inspire different moods and attitudes. And rock 'n roll is all about attitude. :D

Thats right-they ain't the same thang~cause that Tele's got that twang!!

I got this Squier tele a couple weeks ago. Here's a before, and after. The neck humbucker is from a squier fat tele. That's a genuine chinarail at the bridge. Three way switch. The coil tap is a push/pull on the tone pot. Single ply black pickguard.

You must be careful with teles though. When you're not looking they multiply. This one's my third.

If this has the three-bolt neck, take it to the shop and have them sink another bolt in behind the plate in the middle of the other three bolts (you won't see it, but you WILL notice a definite change in neck bend).

It's much better to just place a piece of screen (like you use for a screen door) in the neck pocket. It makes it as stable (or at least, nearly) as a four bolt neck, and preserves the "vintage" value. Though, if I may say, the day 70's Fenders became "vintage" was a truly sad day for the guitar.

I do love telecasters. This is my baby after I installed some pickups. The orignals weren't cutting it anymore

this is kinda a seperatre question but its from the same guitar

a place down a couple towns over from me does fender custom shop. how much more would it cost for me to build that guitar with the exact p'ups i wanted and it'd be a much nicer guitar.

would it be like 4 times as much? more than that? i honestly have no idea so thats why i;m throwing it out there.

i think you'd have to call them and ask :)

You would probably pay more though. I assume you'd want nicer pickups and such. Labor would also be incurred into your bill I imagine. The nice thing about doing it this way is that it truly is the guitar you want.

I played one this weekend and it was fantastic. Doesn't feel like a normal tele. It shreds!!

yeah, i figured. i just wanted to know if it was crazy expensive. i dont really know, i'm just tired of MIM and epiphones, they just aren't the same. i guess the upper level epis and MIMs are nice, but they still arent the same.

Is this called a 'shim' or 'shimming the neck' by any chance?

I suppose technically it is, but a shim is usually wooden in a guitar.

Not quite sure I follow this. How does the screen make it more stable? I suppose it fills in the cavity? I don't know that I understand how this would make it more stable than an extra bolt.

my guess would be that it ties all of the screws in together, and makes them work as a team.

Hey, looks like a cool alternative to that les Paul Special of Zaphod B's that he probably won't ever sell anyway.
If I ever do sell it, notCardio will be the first to know. ;) Not that he'd want that piece of crap. ;)

You guys with your crabbing about three bolt necks are all wacked. My Thinline had that setup, and was totally solid. It stayed in tune, and the neck was perfectly set up for real low action from the first fret to the last. Freakin weirdos, screwing things into your guitars...

dont be a kid

Dude dont pick the guitar just because it looks good. Go to a shop, pick one up, plug it in, play it, then do the same thing with the guitar next to it. Then do it again and again and again with every guitar until the shop guy gets impatient with you. Plug each guitar into several different amps and feel how the guitar plays. DONT BE LIKE THOSE 13 YEAR OLD KIDS WHO WANT TO START A BAND WITH THEIR OTHER IGNORANT FRIENDS AND GO OUT AND BUY A TELE OR AN SG BECAUSE EVERY BAND SEEMS TO USE THOSE!!! seriously dude i want you to be happy with your purchase. and for the price range you seem to have trust me...you can get much much better.
