I have been doing the sound system at my church for a few years now. All we use the sound system for is reinforcement of talking. We have a new minister that likes to scream into the mike and a few seconds later whisper, so that it is impossible for me to keep the level lound enough for the congretation to hear when he whispers and soft enough that when he screams that they will keep their ears.

Anyways should I get a compressor and if so what kind.

We would also like this to be an auto volume control for all of the mics for when I am not there.

Thanks for the help

Yes Buie you should get a compressor - set it to 10db of compression when he's screaming and you'll be fine.

cheer :D

buie - hi. That's what a compressor is - an auto volume control device for anything that's plugged into it.

Check out the RNC (Really Nice Compressor) - I don't have one (I've got a Behringer Composer which I like just fine) - but I've heard only good reports about it, and it's inexpensive as well.
