no. it's stuttering. the audio doesn't flow smoothly. i'm using sblive while i still have it, since it doesn't present that problem. i'm not a big fruity loops user though, so if the creative card gives me any conflicts in the future, the old fruity might go too.

i'm getting annoying dropouts in sonar though. i'm running like 18 audio tracks with something like 20 real time effects on a 1ghz pentium II with 512 ram, and the latency slider is all the way to the 'safe' side. wtf?

Sorry to say, but I'm not supprised. Really depends on the real-time effects. Which are they? If it's the Waves stuff, or some of Cakewalks heavy ones, I'm not supprised at all...

it runs the gamut, tc stuff, cakewalk, timeworks...

20 realtime-effects with PA9 would KILL my (old) PC...

My computer can handle that, but not when I used the Audigy...

well, i'm not sure how many there are, as i'm not home to check, but i definitely have at least 15 real-time effects going on. i could do that in pro audio, why can't i do it now?

I don't remember your setup in my head, sorry (), but maybe it will help if you go back to MME-drivers? (I don't see why, but perhaps...)

And even if Cakewalk says that there really shouldn't be more CPU load with WDM drivers as opposed to ASIO, my computer can have much more tracks/effects when using ASIO-drivers...

when installing sonar, i don't remember changing drivers.

Does the 2496 allow you to plug in standard computer speakers/ subwoofer (1/8" plug) as monitors? I notice that this card has RCA jacks.

I have a box with smilies to the left of where I'm typing now. I can either select them there (if you don't see them, check your User CP) or type them as in ': )' (minus the space) will give and ": D" (minus the space) will give you .
