I didnt hate the windchimes.;)Why does everyone hate windchimes?

It was that damned "Chariots of Fire" song back in the 80's that ruined them for me.

I vote for windchimes :), and yes the snare part is wierd you realy should rethink it. It's a good idea for build up, but it does seem to be somewhat abrapt. Good tune.

cheers

Welcome back. I liked the tune. Very peaceful and listenable. A good start.

Here's my wishlist:
1. Track this with a real guitar. I've yet to hear a sampled guitar that sounds anything like a real guitar.
2. Replace the string pad with something. I'm not sure what but it just sounds a little too obviously synthesizer like. If that's what you're going for fine. It just jumped out at me.
3. Maybe try this without the drums. Maybe with only windchimes? :)
4. Vocals. Got anything?

yeah i really like this man...

it kind of reminds me of that "wherever you go, whatever yo do, i will be right here waiting for you"

song.

put some nice lyrics to this and you could have the next #1 ballad on your hands ;)

Ahhhhh ... tranquility! I could totally fall asleep to this music!

Very serene recording. You did a nice job bringing in the instruments as the song progressed. I didn't really care for the drum sound and thought it kind of distracted from the rest (imho)...Other than that, I really liked this tune!

Keep the posts coming!

Oops ... I didn't read the other posts when I posted mine ... regarding the drums you have already heard this so I'll retract and just say "I like this tune!"

Sorry I've been offline for a bit. I really appreciate all the input! Wow - you play a song for friends and family and you get a few constructive comments - but here you get such a wide range of collective experiences willing to take the time to listen, praise, suggest, and just overall support. Thanks everyone!

Like I said, I hope to make time to follow through on some of these suggestions (maybe even lyrics!) - but my daughter's music comes first as she is the real aspiring singer/songwriter in the house (www.karalanger.com).

Nice stuff Fred,
I dont have any comments on the mix, but its nice to hear this style of music represented in here. Nice playing, nice recording........ ........makes me look forward to Christmas.:)

Fred, what a great soothing tune. Is that all you? I love it. I'm not a sailor but I put myself hanging over the front of the boat like in Titanic. Would love to know what you played in this. Thanks for sharing.

clay,
While I am a guitarist, I used all soft synth patches for this.
- nylon guitar from Steinberg Halion
- Studio Drum Kiit from Steinberg Halion
- E Piano from one of the VST instruments in Steinberg Cubase
- String Pad from from Steinberg Halion (didn't have any real string patches at the time)
- Windchimes (I think from Halion somewhere...)

Ironically, it was recorded while hanging over the front of a boat....;)
