Whenever i track though logic audio 5.0, and listen through the speakers or headphones there is always a delay, which makes it impossible to listen to when tracking, so i have to mute it when tracking. I hear thats bad, and you want to listen to what your recording while tracking... so, any advice?
im trying to get my setup in working order for the steel drum recording sessions that are on the horizion.

thanks!

OK!, so now logic is really really pissing me off!

I found that not only do i have a delay problem (which seems to be fixed with the changing of latency settings), i have a terrible static and distortion problem with anything i track into logic. sounds like someones crumpling tin foil really loud and drowning out what im doing.

So i go into the options, and fiddle with things, and BAM! i fix the crackling, i get really clear recordings, and everythings good. What i did , was i just disabled auto input monitoring (*whatever that is), and it was find. So then i changed the latency settings to fix the delay, and rebooted logic. the static came right back , even with auto input monitoring disabled, and now i can't get ride of it! When i track into sound forge, it sounds great!, so i know its not my mic or input, its the way logic is configured!!

What is going on!!

one more thing, actually, when i have soundforge and logic open at the same time, they both have that statiky sound, like ass. But soudnforge soudns find on its own, logic stinks i tup..

Try going to Audio>Audio Hardware and Drivers and then to whatever tab your drivers are under. Then uncheck the "software monitoring" checkbox. Bring your buffer settings up to higher numbers, try setting it as high as it gets, and hopefully the crackling should go away.

bingo, bye bye crackling.
but hello high latency delay!

am i stuck with the latency cause of my SB live?

the problem is, its like a 1-2 second delay, so whatever is recorded, would be off time to whatever you recording it to!! that just can't work, no way you could record like that.

Are you using the asio drivers in logic?
I had problems using EASI.
Could be your card 'i have a mia and have no probs.
Emagic web site has a sound card compatability test on it's infoweb support page.
Ya gotta register your product to use infoweb.

hmm, i had some bogus driver problems with my sblive i've realized
what happens, is i have to repair the install, by reinstalling them, then the 4 speaker eax and everything works fine, but once i restart again they go corrupted, and don't work, and i have to repair again.

so when they're installed and working logic doesn't work, and when they corrupt and don't work, it works fine.

so im gonna leave them corrupt for now
