Recorded a new track with the Synergy Vai module

Synergy Vai
Marshall 8080 Valvestate power amp
Two Notes Capture X into Genome
FX mostly Lexicon MX300 and X32

Keep discovering new tones. It's a very versatile module. Reminds me a bit of the Carvin V3 I own, but more "sweetness"

My review is short and sweet: it sounds great. Really nice mix. That distortion near the middle of the tune kinda threw me but all in all, great job.

Thought it would be fun to also create a video clip

Short and sweet : videoclip

Excellent work Frank. I know you're a DT fan, and apparently a Steve Vai fan. Me Too! Nice Jem by the way!

DT as in Dream Theater ;) correct.
Vai is without a doubt my favorite, sometimes a bit too freaky but 99% great.

I've been following Vai ever since I got a flexidisc from the attitude song with an American magazine.

Saw him live with Whitesnake at monsters of rock in Utrecht and a few times solo ;)

I've been looking for other guitarists that keep me interested for full albums and can't find anyone on that level :)

I remember that disc, I got it in Guitar Player. Petrucci is my favorite these days, been a Dream Theater fan since Awake.

I'm from1971 so grew up with the greats like Jason Becker, Satch etc. And was into def Leppard and poison :)

But all time favorite is queen ;)

@FrankD77
Do you know if the Vai Synergy has outputs that could go into a Focusrite 4i4 interface? I don't have a power amp. I would be interested to know if I could record into my laptop via the Focusrite 4i4.

Without a problem.
You can use it via the XLR with the build in eq curve. And to be honest it sounds great.

I normally don't like the build in IRs. Also the legacy drive wasn't convincing for me. But the eq curve in the synergy syn1 sounds great.

Thanks @FrankD77 . I may have to consider buying one. I love Vai's tones.

Same here.
The Vai module clean is great.
The dirty channel has insane amounts of gain. What you gear is the gain almost closed a bit more and it doesn't give any signal.

With that setting you hear every detail with superb sustain.

You'll love it.

You obtained some Vai-like tones in your song. Some of your licks seem inspired by him as well. Excellent playing Frank.

I don't follow Steve Vai, but that is an excellent track Frank.
I listened out for the 'distortion' at 1:17. I did sound like distortion, but listening further, it is just the raspiness of the bass.
