I recently created a non-profit company called Deals for Change to help support several charities that are well regarded internationally.

The idea of the company and website is simple: use the links on dealsforchange.org to your favorite stores and if you buy something at one of our affiliates, 100% of the commission we earn will be donated evenly amongst the charities we support. We're not making a dime on this. You are welcome to suggest charities not listed on the site, too.

We have an affiliation with Musician's Friend, so if you ever have to buy anything at MF, I urge you to simply use the link to MF on dealsforchange.org. It will only take a second and you'll end up generating money (7% of your purchase price!) for charities. There's no catches or gimmicks.

Here's the list of charities we currently support.

I hope this doesn't come across as spam or self promotion because we're not making any money on this at all. It's just an idea a few friends of mine had and we're trying to promote it as a simple and non-invasive way for people to generate money for charity.

Also, we are working with other companies like Amazon, Apple, Dell, etc in case you do any commerce with them.

In the past few months, we have generated over $500 for the charities listed on the site. The idea is catching on, so I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up.

If you have any feedback, either post it here, PM me, or use the comments page on dealsforchange.org

Here's the link to Deals for Change

Thank you!

Very nice. I added the link to 'Deals in my 'Vendors favorites folder to help cue me in the future.
How does purchase through Deals' generate the donation?

(Just to add, I'll e-mail my friends about this.

Thanks so much!

To answer your question:
We have created affiliations with the various vendors you see on Deals for change, such as Musician's Friend. When you use our links, we are in essence referring you to the vendors, and in turn we earn a referral commission if you buy something. So if you bought a $100 guitar from Musician's Friend, we'd receive a $7 commission and then donate 100% of it to the charities. The referral commission varies depending on the vendor.

Very cool mrbowes! I do shop there, and I'll be glad to route future business through you! I'll update my bookmarks to go to your page first!

Over the next few weeks we will be adding several new vendors to our site, so please stay tuned!

Thanks again to anyone using the site.

Per request, we have added Habitat for Humanity to our beneficiaries.

I bought the amp through 'Musician's and your link -I would have just as soon sent it Warren's way had I known. ;)
So you're seeing and tracking the commissions coming through?
Wayne

Wayne,

We saw the commission come through - if I recall correctly, it was during the middle of last week. It's going straight to the charities - thanks a lot for your support!

Cool.

We have added several new vendors to Deals for Change:
  • 1-800 Contacts
  • Blockbuster Online
  • Buy.com
  • Expedia
  • Hotels.com
  • Priceline
  • REI
  • REI Outlet
  • InkSmile.com - great place to buy printer cartridges

If you shop at any of these stores, be sure to check out Deals for Change before you shop next time.

Thanks!

Is there any way that you guys can add music123.com since they are the same as musicians friend? I buy a lot from them since their shipping to PR is cheaper than MF.

There you have a little something from me. It was a low order this time, but more coming soon. Hope it helps.

Is there some way to make your charities list sortable by the % each company is giving? It would help us make the best use of the site and insure maximum contributions.

Nice work, BTW!:D
